- When Javagal Srinath took his
first wicket in the shape of Kloppenburg, he completed not only
his 300 wickets but also achieved another landmark. The said
wicket was his 29th in 24 World Cup matches - the most by an
Indian in World Cup, overtaking Kapil's tally of 28 in 26
matches.
- De Leede (4/35) produced his
career-best bowling figures in ODIs. In fact, in his previous 7
matches, he could not claim a single wicket, conceding 235 runs
off 222 balls.
- De Leede became the first player
from Holland to get the Man of the Match award.
- Leede provided the first instance
when any bowler from Holland has claimed 4 wickets in an
innings. The previous best for Holland was 3 for 48
by S.W.Lubbers vs. New Zealand in the 1995-96 World Cup.
- Sachin, during his innings of 52
off 72 balls, has surpassed Javed Miandad's run-aggregate of
1083 in 33 matches when his score reached 25. Sachin's
run-aggregate in World Cup is now 1111 at an average
of 58.47 in 23 matches.
- Sachin's 52 was his 57th
fifty. With 33 centuries + 57 fifties, he is the first
player to have registered 90 scores of 50 or more in ODIs.
- Dinesh Mongia (42 off 49
balls) recorded his best score in 10 innings. In his
previous 9 innings, he failed to cross '10' seven times.
- Adeel Raja (2/47) provided his
best bowling figures in ODIs, bettering his 2 for 50.
- Holland has been dismissed for the
first time in World Cup. Quite naturally, the 136 against India
is their lowest completed innings total in World Cup.
- Holland's 136 is the lowest ever
total recorded at Paarl - the previous lowest was 139 by Sri
Lanka against Pakistan in 1997-98.
- Van Bunge (62) recorded his
career-best score in ODIs. This is the second best score
for Holland in World Cup, the best being 64 off 82 balls by K.J
van Noortwijk against England at Peshawar in 1995-96.
- Javagal Srinath (4/30) produced
his best bowling performance in World Cup, bettering his 3 for
34 against Sri Lanka in the 1995-96 World Cup semi-final at
Calcutta.
- Anil Kumble (4/32) produced his
best ever figures in World Cup, surpassing his 3 for 28 against
Kenya at Cuttack in 1995-96.
