Overall, this was India's second
biggest win by runs margin in ODIs - the best is their
186-run win against Kenya at Paarl in 2001-02.
Sachin Tendulkar (152 off 151 balls)
registered his career-best score in World Cup, bettering his
previous best of 140 not out against Kenya at Bristol in
1999. This was his fourth century in World Cup.
Sachin now joins Mark Waugh (Australia), who has also four World
Cup centuries to his credit.
Sachin's 152 is his second best score
in ODIs - his best is 186 not out off 150 balls against New
Zealand at Hyderabad (India) in 1999-00.
Sachin by making his 34th ODI hundred,
got his seventh Man of the Match award in World Cup - the most
by any player. He got two each MOM awards in the 1991-92,
1995-96 & 2002-03 World Cup competitions. In the 1999
tournament, he could get only one MOM award. Overall, this
was his 47th MOM in ODIs.
Sourav Ganguly became the second player
to post 20 centuries in ODIs - his 9th as captain. Only
Sachin Tendulkar (34) has made more centuries than Ganguly.
Sourav (112 not out off 119 balls)
registered his second hundred in World Cup - his previous World
Cup hundred was 183 off 158 balls against Sri Lanka at Taunton
in 1999.
Sourav has also completed his 500 runs
in World Cup. His World Cup tally is 532 runs in 11 matches at
an average of 53.20.
After scoring 99 in his previous ten
innings, this is Sourav's first score of over 24 in 11 innings.
The 244-run partnership between
Tendulkar and Ganguly for the second wicket is the second best
in World Cup for this wicket-position. The best is 318
between Dravid and Ganguly against Sri Lanka at Taunton in 1999.
Sachin's 152 is the highest ever
individual score on this ground in ODIs, surpassing the previous
best of 69 not out by Marvan Atapattu for Sri Lanka against
Bangladesh.
Yuvraj (4 for six) produced his
career-best bowling figures in ODIs/World Cup, bettering his
previous best of 3 for 39 against England at Lord's in 2002.
Dinesh Mongia became the second Indian
fielder to take 3 catches in a World Cup game. Virender
Sehwag was the first to take 3 catches in an innings - vs.
Holland at Paarl in 2002-03.
Mongia (2/24) registered his best
bowling figures in World Cup.
Harbhajan (2/34) produced his best
bowling figures in World cup.
